Hinoki Bath Bowl
Hinoki Bath Bowl
Hinoki is an ancient cypress wood that is native to central Japan. It is one of Japan’s most revered trees for its durability, anti-bacterial qualities and natural citrus scent. Hinoki is characterised by a lustrous white body and straight grain, with a life span of more than a thousand years. As a prized material that is believed to have cleansing and purifying qualities, Hinoki has long been used in the building of ancient palaces, shrines and temples. It is also a classic material used in producing traditional Japanese baths due to its strong resistance to humidity and natural oil content which repels water.
The Hinoki Bath Bowl is used to pour water on to the body before entering the bathtub. This handcrafted bath bowl is made from uncoated Hinoki cypress, giving the wood a naturally smooth finish that emanates its unique and soothing citrus scent. With a strong resistance to mould, this classic bath bowl is ideal for use in a humid environment such as the bathroom or sauna.

If the copper ring becomes loose, place the bath bowl in water to allow the wood to expand and set the ring back into place.
