Hinoki Bath Stool (L)

Hinoki Bath Stool (L)

Hinoki is an ancient cypress wood that is native to central Japan. It is one of Japan’s most revered trees for its durability, anti-bacterial qualities and natural citrus scent. Hinoki is characterised by a lustrous white body and straight grain, with a life span of more than a thousand years. As a prized material that is believed to have cleansing and purifying qualities, Hinoki has long been used in the building of ancient palaces, shrines and temples. It is also a classic material used in producing traditional Japanese baths due to its strong resistance to humidity and natural oil content which repels water.

The Hinoki Bath Stool (L) is a contemporary redesign of the traditional Japanese bath stool. This bath stool is made from rift and quartered sawn hinoki wood - the rarest cut of wood that uses a highly specialized and labour intensive sawing method to attain the desired straight grain. Featuring a modern and sleek design, the Hinoki Bath Stool has a stable body that is highly durable against moisture. This bath stool is ideally paired with the Hinoki bath bowl for a full bathing experience with the rich scent of Hinoki wood.
