The Metalware collection is produced in Niigata prefecture’s Tsubame-Sanjo region. The two towns flourished as the centre of swordsmithing during the Edo period, and its ancient metalcraft was later reshaped in the production of copperware such as stainless steel pots, knives and tableware. Tsubame-city is renowned for its metal polishing techniques, while the city of Sanjo developed exceptional skills in forging. The region Tsubame-Sanjo is highly regarded for its quality of stainless steel and artistry, which forges traditional craftsmanship with modern industry to produce functional craft for life-long use.

This set of silver-plated copper cutleries is made from high-quality stainless steel. The slender handle features a copper coating at the tips, which will darken and tarnish with use along with the brushed silver body. This process can be appreciated for its aesthetic beauty or it can be polished to retain its lustre.

Instruction for Care: Hand wash with warm soapy water only. Brass and copper products are subject to rust when in contact with acidic foods. To remove rust, mix salt and vinegar in equal parts, apply solution with a wet cloth on to the rust areas.
