This Oak Wooden Bowl is crafted in a renowned lacquerware workshop in Ishikawa prefecture. Yamanaka lacquerware originated over four hundred years ago, when highly-skilled wood craftsmen established the craft of woodturning on a lathe. This bowl is crafted from native Japanese oak and urushi (Japanese lacquer), a sap extracted from urushi trees that draws out the natural beauty of wood. The urushi coating highlights the refined wood grain with a gloss, making the vessel both durable and heat-resistant. This food-safe coating protects the bowl against grease and stains, making it easy to care for while developing a rich lustre over time with more use.

Please note as wood is a natural material, each handmade product varies in colour, grain and texture.
